A wax is used as a positive mold to be embedded in plaster, burnt out in a kiln to make a negative plaster mold that is filled with gold or silver using a tourch and centrifuge. After the metal cools, the plaster is broken away exposing the cast piece. Then the piece goes though many hand finishing steps.
